Book of Mormon Central (BMC) is pleased to announce that Howard Goodman has agreed to serve as our Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Howard Goodman

Howard Goodman

Goodman recently retired from Savage Companies in Midvale, Utah, where he was Executive Vice President and Group Leader of People. He was a key member of the leadership team that grew Savage from a regional to a global enterprise. He is helping BMC become more strategically focused for growth and efficiency.

Goodman currently serves as president of the Salt Lake Cottonwood Heights Stake. He and his wife, Deborah, reside in Salt Lake County.

BMC is further pleased to announce that Scott Petersen has agreed to serve as our Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Scott Petersen

Scott Petersen

Petersen is a successful businessman who led the Rollins Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology in the Marriott School at BYU as it became one of the top programs in the country. He is helping BMC become more professional and effective in all phases of financial management - including fundraising.

Petersen currently serves as president of the Provo Utah YSA 4th Stake. He and his wife, Marilyn, reside in Utah County.

BMC was founded as a non-profit organization in 2015 by Lynne H. Wilson and John W. (Jack) Welch to build enduring faith in Jesus Christ by making the Book of Mormon accessible, comprehensible, and defensible to people everywhere. Since its first publication on January 1, 2016, BMC has communicated the wonder of the Nephite text to millions in multiple languages via websites, videos, podcasts, emails, books, and social media channels. BMC’s flagship mobile app, ScripturePlus, is transforming the way many Latter-day Saints experience the scriptures and study the inspired Come Follow Me curriculum. Concise, illustrated essays called KnoWhys are BMC’s signature publication and they make the best Book of Mormon scholarship readily available to Church members everywhere. The 567 KnoWhys published to date in English and Spanish constitute the largest corpus of organized Book of Mormon scholarship in this dispensation. Pearl of Great Price Central went live on August 7, 2019. The highly popular Come Follow Me Insights program with Taylor Halverson and Tyler Griffin debuted on YouTube on December 30, 2019. BMC’s first content in Portuguese was published on June 29, 2020.

At its headquarters facility in Springville, Utah, BMC maintains the world’s largest Book of Mormon research library. The BMC digital archive makes more than 6,900 items of Book of Mormon interest available free of charge to students of the text worldwide. Submissions to BMC’s annual art contest add stunning new Book of Mormon images to the BMC digital archive every year.

Kirk Magleby serves as BMC’s Executive Director. Board members include John W. (Jack) Welch, Taylor Halverson, Ruth Schmidt, Bob Babcock, Scott Petersen, Tyler Perry, Lynne H. Wilson, and Harris Leck. Howard Goodman chairs the operations section and Dick Gordon chairs the development section of the Advisory Board. All officers, executives, directors, and advisors serve without compensation. All BMC digital content is free of charge. BMC employs 16 full-time staff members and 12 part-time freelancers in the US and Latin America who are supported by hundreds of volunteers.
